This trip heads up a series of sandstone slabs and canyons to the edge of Red Mesa and then on to the Jemez Pueblo fence line. There is more cool stuff to see but alas it is verboten beyond that fence. We then follow the fence a while and head down, crossing still more canyons, then finish off with a side trip to the summit of San Ysidro Peak. We were myself, Nancy King, Daisy Levine, and Pat Stark. My mileage is estimated because I deleted the GPS track. 6.2 miles, 1549 foot ascent, 5 hours hike time. The mileage varies quite a bit because the route can as well. My last hike here covered essentially the same ground but was about 8 miles in length. Go figure.
